Adding New Content to Our BBA Blog
Hello, Dave Curtis here, the webmaster for the BBA Web site.
A few Brooksville Business Alliance members have made (or attempted to make) additions to the blog but have either not hit the “publish” button after writing your posts (so they are saved as “pending”) or have posted store specific information to the main home page of the BBA blog which is reserved for news about the blog, the website, comments from the board or directors, and other general posts. If you save a post as pending then what you write won’t be seen – and as one of the posts referred to needing volunteers for September (and this is now December already) it’s too late to fix this now. Those who wish to write specific content about their own events or businesses should create a new page (such as the one created by Maria Greene of Easy Street Home Decor – click here to see the page)
On our Blog we have various page categories and links at the top of the blog. The home page of the blog is for various posts such as the general request for volunteers etc (as mentioned above). If you would like to promote a business or have a sale then instead of adding a new post, use the “Pages”, “Add New” page button instead – and place the page underneath the “Sales” page so the menu button for “Sales” will show a dropdown of your new page and visitors can click directly on your link.
For instance, if Brooksville Computer wants to promote Brooksville Computer, a new page entitled “Brooksville Computer” would be created and then saved underneath the “Sales” page. Each new page created by Brooksville Computer about Brooksville Computer would then be appropriately titled (such as a new page about SEO) and saved NOT under “Sales” but under “Brooksville Computer” so the dropdown menu hierarchy would look like this:
Sales
………..Brooksville Computer
…………………………………….SEO
Etc. Each business can thus add unique content, images, videos etc within it’s own self contained folder rather than using the Home page. If the home page is used then the site no longer resembles a BBA blog but something else.
Thanks!
Dave Curtis
