About
Not too long ago the Brooksville Business Alliance didn’t exist. It was was a committee made up of concerned private citizens and business owners in Brooksville and part of the Fine Arts Council.
Evelyn Duncan, owner of the Antique Sampler Mall (www.antiquesamplermall.com) on South Main Street was a member of that committee. She organized and ran the monthly Market on Main Street as one of the primary big activities of the committee at that time. Today the Brooksville Business Alliance is incorporated as a not for profit organization and Evelyn still runs the Market on Main Street the third Saturday of every month. Our organizations’ first elected president was Pierre Desjardins, owner of Easy Street Home Decor (www.EasyStreetHomeDecor.com) and Hill House Bed & Breakfast (www.Hill-House.us), both located in Brooksvlle.
We owe a great deal to Evelyn for her tireless efforts over the years keeping the Market on Main alive. It brings in revenue for us to budget many of the events we run. When the City of Brooksville ran into financial difficulty as the country’s economy slowed, the Business Alliance took over the function of organizing Brooksville’s Founders Week Celebration. We also have much to do with the various city parades, special events, art shows and other community activities including scholarship awards.
We owe special thanks to Pierre Desjardins for his strong and capable leadership abilities when recruiting members – both private individuals and business owners – and setting much of the tone and pace for our current level of activities. Anyone is welcome to join with just a few requirements: You must live or own a business anywhere in Brooksville, and you must care about the welfare of Brooksville in general.
Hernando is a large county with Spring Hill being the most densely populated areas. Many of the residents in Spring Hill are either from New York State or New York City and its surrounding areas. Brooksville is a great close-by place to get away from the build up, traffic and urban pace when you’ve “just had enough” and need to get away. So, being from mid-town Manhattan myself, I recommend you come to Brooksville. I love it and I think you’ll have a good time here too. The City of Brooksville, the city that’s not a “city”.
The Main Street Eatery is a fabulous place for lunch (only open until 4pm) run by Peggy Bell. She’s got some great HOT Chilli, pressed Cuban Sandwiches and home made desserts.
Coney Island Drive In
