LAST YEARS FESTIVAL IN REVIEW
Last years extended event calendar included the Hernando County Rodeo & BBQ Festival - Hernando County Airport, the Founder’s Parade & Birthday Cake, a Civil War Skirmish and Family Fun Day at Tom Varn Park, a Medieval Fighting Demonstration, the Bandshell Bash & Cruise-in (music and vintage and antique cars), a "Taste of Brooksville" at Hernando Park to sample some of the finest ‘tastes’ that local restaurants have to offer, a tour of the historic homes in Brooksville, "Swing Time at the Station" (Swing and Jazz with the Charlie Vegas and the New Blues Combo Band), a daily bus tour of Brooksville, a daily Victorian Tea at the Brooksville Women's Club, a guided Walking Tour of Brooksville Cemetery of grave sites dating back to 1845, a Southern Heritage Costume Ball at Victoria's Steak House, a City Art Gallery Reception (Brooksville boasts four art galleries), a lunchtime concert in the park, an ethnic festival, a Chamber of Commerce Period Costume Contest, a Highwaymen Painting Demonstration to benefit the Brooksville Mural Society, a 50's & 60's Sock Hop sponsored by WJQB 106.3 Radio Station in Brooksville, Brooksville Belle Scavenger Hunt Award of Prizes, the Founders Week Carnival at Tom Varn Park, a Pumpkin Festival for children to enter their pumpkins in a contest, the Market on Main Street, a Genealogy - Lineage Workshop sponsored by the Winding Waters Chapter DAR, and other events. This years week of festivities promises to be as exciting as last years, so look to the October calendar here on our site, as well as for the updates on the Hernando Today web site and in the newspaper.
